Their Fading Beacon

This 15-½” X 10-½” x 12-¾” diorama is 1:87 scale or approximately ⅛” = 1 foot. So, a human figure is about ¾” This diorama was constructed from two heavily modified kits made by Foscale and Conowingo and my scratch made bar. The scenery is carved from extruded polystyrene (XPS) foam, the pink building foam used for building insulation, available in ½’ to 2” thick panels. It is an excellent art material having a stable life span over 50 years in protected enclosures. I carve the stone textures and the scenery and build up layers to simulate buildings and bridges, etc. I then apply paint and weathering coats. The miniature figures are from Germany that I hand paint. The cars are from England and are weathered. The water is a two part epoxy pouring resin. The trees and other foliage are constructed from weeds and branches, air dried, assembled and painted. After photographing it from planned angles these were digitally edited and then superimposed over background images of sky or terrain that I took or that I altered from online stock photos. Signs are designed and created digitally. The interior and exterior lights are battery powered sub miniature LED lights.
This is a political statement about a “Kings” fading light above, those feeding off his level and those below.
